Watermelon juice dripping down sweet,
Sweaty heads and sandy bare feet
Shifting towards crisp autumn air and leaves turning gold,
Warm pumpkin spice and cozy sweaters unfold.
No matter the season, our song is the same –
God alone, our Hope, our Forever refrain :
“Praise God, from Whom all blessings flow.
Praise Him, all creatures here below.
Praise Him above, ye heavenly hosts.
Praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost.”
We look to You, our Sabbath Rest.
We lay down our labors and strivings best
To stop, to lift our eyes above,
To acknowledge our Maker’s hands of Love
That bestow the provision of all that we need.
Forbid we the deadly illusion believe
Our efforts source our self-sufficiency.
Forbid we toil too hard to receive
This gift, to our bodies and souls, of rest;
A future promise to come, a reality now blessed.
A weekly reminder to pause and to know
It’s from You, our Father, through Whom all blessings flow.
An act of trust may be to simply take a nap –
To swaddle calm in Your love and shelter safe in Your lap.
